The narrow streets and the restricted movement of equipment posed significant challenges during the lifting and placement of the 7ft dome.

However, thanks to our skilled team and careful planning, we managed to raise the dome and install it atop the Gurdwara Sahib without a single scratch. Every step was executed with utmost care and respect for the sanctity of the space, ensuring the dome was placed securely and gracefully.

This successful installation is a testament to our commitment to delivering excellence, even in the most challenging circumstances.

Why Our Domes are Unique:

Our domes blend spiritual essence with state-of-the-art craftsmanship. Each dome is carefully handcrafted with attention to detail, ensuring it reflects the rich Sikh architectural traditions while meeting modern standards of durability.

Acknowledgment:

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Gurdwara Sahib management committee and the Sangat for entrusting us with this sacred project. Your faith and collaboration inspire us to continue delivering excellence.

Trusted Partner for Gurdwara Sahib Structures

As an organization committed to preserving the architectural legacy of Sikh heritage, we were honored to be entrusted with the responsibility of supplying and installing these essential structures. The project involved manufacturing and delivering a 12-foot diameter Gurdwara Sahib Dome and a 9-foot dome, along with four corner Palki Sahibs for the Darshani Deori and two 4-foot Khandas for the main entrance gate. All elements were fabricated using multi-layered silicon fiber reinforced with MS framing, designed to withstand the challenging weather conditions of Mumbai (Maharashtra), ensuring durability, stability, and aesthetic appeal.

High-Quality Dome Craftsmanship

Our Gurdwara Sahib domes (Gumbads) are carefully crafted to embody the spiritual and architectural symbolism intrinsic to Sikhism, while offering unmatched resilience. These domes are made from a durable multi-layered silicon fiber material, reinforced with robust MS frame structures to ensure that they remain stable even in high winds. In contrast to lighter fiberglass shells that may appear attractive but are unable to endure adverse weather, our domes represent a commitment to both beauty and function, designed to serve their purpose for generations.

Importance of MS Framing and Traditional Design

Incorporating the traditional MS framing is key to our work. Our dome with a diameter of 12 feet and a height of 18 feet is reinforced with 1.6-inch square MS pipes, expertly bent as recommended by structural engineers. This careful construction provides optimal wind resistance and ensures structural integrity. Additionally, the MS frame is treated with a weather-resistant primer and coated in black to prevent rust, even in humid environments. Our use of high-quality materials and traditional design methods allows these domes to stand as a testament to the sacred architectural style seen in landmarks such as Sri Harminder Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar.

This monumental project demonstrates the precision and craftsmanship we dedicate to creating the most durable and aesthetically beautiful Gurdwara domes in India and abroad.

Manufacturing Excellence and Craftsmanship:

Our domes are known for their premium quality, and the one we manufactured for this Gurdwara Sahib is no exception. The dome is made from high-quality multi-layered silicon fiber, ensuring that it can withstand all weather conditions. The central 9-foot Gurdwara dome is reinforced with a meticulously designed MS (mild steel) frame structure, which adds strength and stability to the dome. This structure is insulated to provide maximum protection against the changing weather, ensuring that the dome remains resilient for many years to come.

We understand the significance of maintaining the sacred aura and aesthetics of Gurdwara Sahib structures. That's why our domes go through several stages of quality checks. The final layer is a coat of weather-resistant golden paint, and we ensure that every surface is lacquered to preserve its lustrous shine for a minimum of 6 years. After that period, we recommend repainting to maintain its brilliance for decades.

Golden Paintwork Process:

The golden paintwork you see in the pictures and video showcases our high standards. This video demonstrates the precise application of the golden paint to the dome at our workshop before it was shipped to Nangal. Our team ensures that the paint is applied evenly, and the lacquer provides an additional protective coating to keep the dome looking radiant and fresh. This attention to detail ensures that the Gurdwara Sahib dome maintains its golden appearance, no matter the environmental conditions.

Domes in Detail:

In addition to the central 9-foot dome, we also supplied four smaller 2-foot diameter domes (gumbads) for the corners of the main structure, adding symmetry and grandeur to the design. These smaller domes are crafted using the same top-tier silicon fiber and are painted and lacquered in the same golden finish to ensure consistency and a majestic look.

Transportation and Installation:

After completing the manufacturing process and conducting the necessary checks, the dome was carefully loaded onto a transport truck at our workshop. We ensure that every product is securely packed and safely transported to the installation site. The pictures demonstrate the dome loaded and ready for transport, highlighting the attention to logistics as well as manufacturing.

Stunning Golden Fiberglass Dome / Gumbad for Gurdwara Sahib: Craftsmanship Beyond Compare!

Why Choose Us for Gurdwara Sahib Domes? Our fiberglass domes are preferred by Gurdwara Sahib committees across India and internationally for several reasons:

  1. High-Quality Materials:
We only use the finest silicon fiber and ensure that all our domes are reinforced with MS frame structures. This guarantees durability and stability, especially for larger domes that require additional structural integrity.
  2. All-Weather Resistant:
Our domes are designed to withstand all types of weather conditions—whether it's extreme heat, cold, or rain. This makes them ideal for both Indian climates and overseas environments.
  3. Longevity:
Our domes are built to last for decades. The lacquered finish ensures that the golden color stays vibrant for at least 6 years, after which we recommend repainting to extend the life of the domes.
  4. Traditional and Custom Designs:
We respect the sacred traditions of Sikh architecture while incorporating modern technology to create domes that are both aesthetically pleasing and structurally sound. Our domes honor the heritage of Sikhism, ensuring that they add grandeur to any Gurdwara Sahib.
  5. Global Reach:
Not only do we serve Gurdwara Sahibs in India, but we also export our high-quality domes to Sikh temples (Gurdwara Sahibs) around the world. Our attention to detail and commitment to quality have made us a trusted partner in delivering top-tier Gurdwara domes internationally.
  6. Competitive Pricing and Customization:
Our pricing for Gurdwara Sahib fiberglass domes is highly competitive, starting from ₹2,800 and varying depending on size, design, and structural requirements. For regions with harsh weather conditions, such as coastal areas prone to cyclonic winds, we offer domes reinforced with high-quality MS structures. These specialized domes are designed to withstand extreme environmental challenges, which may result in a higher price due to the additional reinforcement. However, our multi-layered domes, with their exceptional durability and weather resistance, offer unmatched value and quality, far exceeding what any competitor can provide.

Gurdwara Dome and 4 x Palki Sahib for Darshani Deori for Gurdwara Sahib in Washington DC (USA)

12 Foot Diameter Gurdwara Sahib Dome:
This dome, with a diameter of 12 feet and a height of 18 feet, is reinforced with a robust MS Frame Structure to withstand the high winds and extreme temperatures of Washington, USA. Unlike other manufacturers who often overlook the importance of internal support, our domes are engineered to endure, providing stability and long-term durability. Many other domes in the market, though visually appealing, are mere lightweight fiberglass shells that fail to withstand even moderate winds. We take pride in delivering domes that not only look beautiful but also serve their purpose for decades.

Importance of Proper MS Framing:
The Gurdwara Sahib Dome (Gumbad) is more than just a structural element; it is the soul of the Gurdwara’s architecture. It’s crucial to maintain the traditional design, as seen in iconic structures like the Gumbad of Sri Harminder Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar. At Rana Handicrafts International, we preserve this sacred legacy by manufacturing Gurdwara Sahib Domes that conform to the traditions, using multi-layered silicon fiber reinforced with MS framing.

Material & Construction:
Our Gurdwara Sahib Domes are made with multi-layered silicon fiber, reinforced with 1.6" square MS pipes, expertly bent as per structural engineer recommendations. This design allows the dome to effectively cut through winds, reducing the direct impact of strong gusts. The MS frame is treated with a high-quality, weather-resistant primer and painted in black to prevent corrosion, ensuring the dome’s longevity even in the most humid environments.

Installed Fiberglass Gurdwara Dome at Bhai Daya Singh Gurdwara – Ahmednagar

Installed Fiberglass Gurdwara Dome at Bhai Daya Singh Gurdwara – Ahmednagar

At Rana Handicrafts International, we take pride in being the leading manufacturers and exporters of premium Sikh Temple Domes / Gurudwara Sahib Gumbad in India since 1964. Here, we present another testament to our expertise—a comprehensive project that encompasses the entire journey, from the initial planning stages to the successful installation of a 12-foot diameter dome at Gurdwara Daya Singh in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra.

Our commitment was to create and install a 12-foot diameter dome and four outdoor side Palki Sahibs for the Gurdwara Sahib. While we initially projected a completion time of 3 months to the managing committee, unforeseen floods in Punjab extended the timeline to 4 months.

In the first 15 days, we designed and manufactured an insulated MS frame structure for the dome. The structure was primed and painted to withstand diverse weather conditions. Subsequently, we meticulously crafted a three-layered silicon fiber (approximately 4mm thick) shell for the dome, ensuring a refined finish over the following 6 weeks. The dome’s distinctive Khanda was also cast and fortified with an MS frame structure to endure strong winds. The shell was coated with primer and securely fixed onto the modular frame structure designed for the dome.

Upon combining the shell and the MS frame structure, the dome received its first layer of high-quality Golden Paint. This was followed by multiple layers of Golden Paint and a coating of premium Asian Paint lacquer, safeguarding the dome from UV damage for years to come. We recommend repainting Gurdwara Sahib Domes every 6 years to maintain their pristine condition.

Once the dome and outdoor side Palki Sahibs were prepared, they were safely transported to Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. On-site, a 120-foot crane provided by the managing committee was used to lift the dome and position it atop the platform on the roof. With the dome securely in place, our skilled technicians undertook the installation process, skillfully welding and bolting the frame structure to the base platform. After the successful installation of the 12-foot diameter dome and outdoor Palki Sahib, our team meticulously applied an additional coat of paint and lacquer to achieve the desired final finish.

As the installation concludes, it is fitting to highlight the significance of Gurdwara Sahib Ji by acknowledging the legacy of Bhai Daya Singh Ji. This revered figure in Sikh history, known for his unwavering commitment to service and compassion, continues to inspire through his teachings. Just as this newly installed dome adorns the Gurdwara, it stands as a testament to Bhai Daya Singh Ji’s enduring spirit, reflecting the core values of Sikhism—selflessness and unity.

Design and Structure:
The dome created for Gurdwara Daya Singh Ji is a masterpiece of architectural craftsmanship. The design process began with careful consideration of the Gurdwara’s aesthetics and spiritual significance. The dome’s dimensions—12 feet in diameter—were chosen to harmonize with the Gurdwara’s surroundings and to provide a grand and awe-inspiring focal point.

The dome’s structural integrity was paramount. An insulated MS (Mild Steel) frame structure was meticulously designed to provide a strong foundation for the dome. This frame ensures the dome’s stability, durability, and ability to withstand environmental factors such as wind and weather.

Material and Construction:
The dome’s outer shell was meticulously constructed using a three-layered silicon fiber (fiberglass) composite. This composite material not only offers exceptional strength but also allows for intricate detailing and fine finishes. The thickness of the fiberglass layers, approximately 4mm, was chosen to strike a balance between sturdiness and weight.

The topmost feature of the dome, the Khanda—a symbol of Sikh faith—was also a focus of attention. It was cast with precision and reinforced with an additional MS frame structure to ensure its resilience against strong winds and other external forces.

Protection and Finish:
The dome’s longevity and appearance were safeguarded through a comprehensive finishing process. The dome’s exterior underwent a meticulous priming and painting procedure to provide protection against diverse weather conditions. Several layers of high-quality Golden Paint were meticulously applied, creating a regal and radiant appearance that pays homage to Sikh tradition and spirituality.

To shield the dome from the sun’s harmful UV rays and other environmental factors, a final coating of premium Asian Paint lacquer was applied. This lacquer not only enhances the dome’s luster but also ensures that it remains a beacon of beauty for years to come.

HISTORY OF BHAI GARJA SINGH JI AND BHAI BOTA SINGH JI

Bhai Garja Singh Ji and Bhai Bota Singh Ji were two prominent Sikh warriors who played a significant role in the history of Punjab during the late 18th century. They are often remembered for their courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to Sikh principles.

Garja Singh Ji and Bota Singh Ji were born in the village of Patti in present-day Punjab, India. They came from humble backgrounds and were deeply inspired by the teachings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, who had established the Khalsa Panth—a brotherhood of dedicated Sikh warriors.

During that time, Punjab was under the rule of the Mughal Empire, which imposed numerous oppressive policies on the Sikh community. The Sikh faith, with its emphasis on equality, justice, and resistance against tyranny, inspired Garja Singh Ji and Bota Singh Ji to rise against the oppressive regime.

Garja Singh Ji and Bota Singh Ji became leaders of a band of Sikh warriors and initiated various acts of resistance against the Mughal authorities. They targeted tax collectors and officials who were known for their corruption and exploitation of the common people.

One of their most renowned acts of bravery was the looting of the treasury of Sirhind, a prominent Mughal city. Garja Singh Ji and Bota Singh Ji, along with their fellow warriors, planned a daring raid and successfully infiltrated the city. They managed to seize a substantial amount of wealth and distributed it among the poor and needy, symbolizing their commitment to social justice.

The Mughal authorities were furious and launched a massive manhunt to capture Garja Singh Ji and Bota Singh Ji. Despite the danger, the Sikh warriors continued their resistance activities, challenging the oppressive regime at every turn. Their actions inspired many others to join the cause and stand up against tyranny.

However, their fight for justice and freedom eventually led to their capture. Garja Singh Ji and Bota Singh Ji were arrested and brought before the Mughal authorities, who subjected them to severe torture and humiliation in an attempt to break their spirit.

Even in the face of unimaginable suffering, Garja Singh Ji and Bota Singh Ji remained steadfast in their faith and refused to renounce their Sikh identity. They embraced martyrdom with courage and dignity, becoming symbols of Sikh resistance against oppression.

The sacrifices of Garja Singh Ji and Bota Singh Ji had a profound impact on the Sikh community and their struggle for freedom. They exemplified the principles of Sikhism, including bravery, compassion, and the pursuit of justice. Their legacy continues to inspire generations of Sikhs and serves as a reminder of the importance of standing up against injustice.

Today, Garja Singh Ji and Bota Singh Ji are remembered as iconic figures in Sikh history. Their names are etched in the hearts of Sikhs worldwide, symbolizing the indomitable spirit of the Khalsa and the unwavering commitment to upholding righteousness.

HOW ARE FIBER GLASS SCULPTURES & GURDWARA DOMES MADE

  1. Design and Planning: Begin by developing a concept a sculpture. We sketch out the design and plan the dimensions and proportions. Consider the size, shape, and any intricate details you want to incorporate.
  2. Armature Construction: Build a supporting structure, known as an armature, to provide stability and shape to the sculpture. It can be made from materials such as metal wire, MS Framing or foam. The armature should match the intended shape and size of the final sculpture.
  3. Sculpting the Form: Apply a sculpting material, such as clay or foam, onto the armature to create the basic shape and form of the sculpture. Use sculpting tools to refine the details and achieve the desired texture and surface quality.
  4. Mold Making: Once the sculpting is complete, create a mold of the sculpture. The mold will be used to produce multiple copies of the sculpture in fiberglass. There are different types of molds, such as one-piece molds or multi-piece molds, depending on the complexity of the sculpture.
  5. Mold Preparation: Prepare the mold for the fiberglass application. Apply a mold release agent to ensure the fiberglass doesn’t stick to the mold surface. The mold release can be a wax, silicone spray, or other suitable materials.
    Fabrication of Fiberglass Dome
    Fabrication of Fiberglass Dome
  6. Fiberglass Application: Cut fiberglass mat or cloth into manageable pieces. Mix a batch of fiberglass resin according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Apply a layer of resin onto the mold surface using a brush or roller. Place the fiberglass mat or cloth onto the wet resin and saturate it with more resin, ensuring complete coverage and removal of air bubbles. Repeat this process, adding additional layers for strength and thickness as needed.
  7. Curing: Allow the fiberglass to cure and harden. The curing time will depend on the specific resin used and the environmental conditions. Follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer to ensure proper curing.
  8. Demolding and Finishing: Once the fiberglass has cured, carefully remove the sculpture from the mold. Trim any excess fiberglass and sand the surface to achieve a smooth finish. Repair any imperfections or air bubbles with additional layers of resin and fiberglass.
  9. Detailing and Painting: Add any desired details or surface texture to the sculpture using additional sculpting materials or paints. Use appropriate paints or coatings to achieve the desired color and finish. Apply a clear protective coating to enhance durability and weather resistance, if necessary.
