At Rana Handicrafts International, we are honored to announce the successful completion of a truly magnificent project: the creation of a massive and beautiful Palki Sahib. This specialized Palki Sahib design was created specifically for the Diwan Hall at the Sikh Satsang of Indianapolis in the USA.
Our team drew deep inspiration from the world-famous and iconic Palki Sahib design found at Gurdwara Dukh Niwaran Sahib in Ludhiana to ensure a regal and sacred appearance. Known by its unique model name, Code: PK12, this masterpiece is now fully manufactured and prepared for its journey to its new home.
Even though the current global situation and international conflicts have created major challenges for the shipping industry, we are doing everything possible to manage the delivery. We are working tirelessly to ensure this sacred consignment reaches our clients in Indianapolis on time and in perfect condition.
This project was a labor of love that took four months of dedicated craftsmanship to complete. Below, we share the detailed, step-by-step journey of how our artists transformed a simple vision into this breathtaking Palki Sahib.
Phase 1: Planning and Artistic Design
-
Step 1 & 2: Our artists began with detailed hand-drawn plans. The final approved design is a grand structure measuring 12ft wide, 12ft deep, and 14ft high.
-
Step 3: These drawings were given to master wood carvers who hand-carved the patterns onto MDF boards to create the very first molds.
Phase 2: Molding and Casting
-
Step 4 & 5: We created high-quality silicon fiber molds. From these, we cast 4 massive pillars, 8 top sections (for both the inside and outside), and 4 inner arches (mehrabs).
-
Step 6: To ensure the structure is strong and looks thick, we built a 2-layer Mild Steel (MS) frame. This frame holds the inner and outer silicon fiber shells together.
Phase 3: Refinement and Finishing
-
Step 7 & 8: Every section was hand-rubbed to make the surface perfectly smooth. We applied a PU primer and used specialized putty to fill any tiny pinholes, ensuring a flawless base.
-
Step 9: Once smooth, we sprayed the first coat of beautiful golden paint on every piece.
Phase 4: Assembly and Quality Testing
-
Step 10 & 11: After drying under the sun, we performed a full test assembly. We used a crane to lift the heavy top section onto the pillars to check the structural strength and bolting.
-
Step 12: Our team, including Uday Veer Singh Rana, took a moment to celebrate this achievement with a group photo in front of the finished structure.
Phase 5: Final Coating and Shipping
-
Step 13 & 14: The Palki Sahib was disassembled so we could apply a perfect second coat of golden paint, fixing any small scratches from the assembly process.
-
Step 15: Finally, a clear coat of lacquer was sprayed to give it a lasting shine and protection.
-
Step 16: Each section is now being carefully packaged individually to be loaded into a container for its long journey to Indianapolis.
A Labor of Love and Devotion
Watching these videos and looking through the photos, you can see the heart and soul our team puts into every detail. From the first hand-drawn sketch to the final coat of shining gold, this Palki Sahib is more than just a structure; it is a tribute to faith and craftsmanship. We take great pride in knowing that our work will soon have a home at the Sikh Satsang of Indianapolis, serving the community for many years to come.
We hope this behind-the-scenes look shows you the care we take at Rana Handicrafts International. Whether it is carving the wood or testing the heavy pillars for strength, we ensure everything is perfect. Thank you for joining us on this four-month journey. We look forward to seeing this masterpiece standing tall in its new home very soon.
